Catching Up

Hi Everyone,

This is a catch-up edition--things have been happening so fast that there's barely been time to post them before the next event:

Staffline

The January Edition of Staffline is now available online--in addition to a message from President Fogel, you'll find there's still time to sign up for the Montreal Casino Trip or one of the Community Days of Service.

Follow-Up on Open Forum

We received many positive comments on the format of the Open Forum held at our 1/6/09 meeting. We thank President Fogel for volunteering to stand up and take all the questions; and don't forget, we can still send his office further questions that there weren't time for at the forum.

Here's the information we were given about follow-up questions, or listening to the audio file, or reading the transcript online:

"Update: Staff Open Forum with President Fogel
On the FY 09 Budget Rescission and the FY 10 Base Budget Reductions

If you were unable to attend the Tuesday, January 6, 2009 Staff Open Forum with President Fogel sponsored by the Staff Council, you can now access an audio recording of the proceedings as well as a full Q & A Transcript on the Staff Council website.

If you still have questions and/or suggestions regarding the budget, please submit them to the Staff Council Office by phone at 802-656-4493, email at staff.council@uvm.edu or through Campus mail or USPS to: The Staff Council Office, University of Vermont, 305 Waterman, Burlington, VT 05405.

All questions will be forwarded on to the Office of the President and anonymity will be maintained unless otherwise expressed. Please refer to the Office of the President Budget Updates webpage for more information."

[We hope to hear soon about updated answers to further questions being posted.]

Next Staff Council Meeting Tuesday February 3rd

In the next full Staff Council meeting we'll be working on the policies and procedures statements called for in the new by-laws that were approved last year. We'll also be voting on an amendment to the Elections Rules that will move them earlier in the year, to avoid overburdening the units by asking them to hold elections in the busy month of May. The actual meeting agenda should be ready soon, and I'll post that as soon as we get it.

Participation in a Transformational Change Process

We only had one day's notice to get out the call for volunteers for President Fogel's working group on this topic--I'm hoping everyone interested got a chance to put in their names. The group should be appointed on Thursday 1/29, and make their recommendations by Sunday 3/15.

Well, I'm hoping that no one had serious problems dealing with the storm--if we hurry we can enjoy the scenery before something else comes along!

Have a good weekend,

Joanne
