With March and the equinox passing, the Vermont sugaring season has definitely begun! If you're as interested in the science as the flavor, the UVM Extension Maple site contains an amazing amount of information from beginner to professional level. It includes sign-ups for conferences, classes and newsletters, and links to UVM related sites and state organizations. Also the UVM Proctor Maple Research Center has opened their TreeMet site for the 2008 spring season. You can find research highlights, and read continually updating metrics on the trees, the sap and the surrounding temperatures.
Mud season has also begun, and that's enough said about that. I'm off to wash a few floors, and I hope everyone has a good weekend,
Joanne
